Advantages of ProSoy™

Soy protein additives are an inexpensive, environmentally friendly ingredients that areis replacing synthetic materials in a wide range of industries. Developed from soy beans, ProSoy creates strong cohesive and adhesive bonds between cellulose, pigments, and minerals and offers improved rigidity compared to polymers. It is a sustainable, renewable material with many advantages over the alternatives:

  • Lower total cost
  • Reduced energy impact
  • Elimination of hazardous and
  • potentially harmful components
  • Increased binding strength
  • Improved water holding
  • Enhanced cross linking

Our in-house team of scientists and engineers is discovering new ways for ProSoy to replace harmful chemicals every day. Let us review your operations to identify ways that ProSoy can benefit your processes.

How industries use ProSoy™

ProSoy has replaced many ingredients that are not environmentally friendly in operations that have processes requiring its essential properties: adhesion or binding, and as a carrier and pelletizing agent for water soluble materials. Below are examples of how ProSoy is being used:

  • Paperboard coatings—Enhancing glue-ability, calendar release and structuring binder
  • Fine paper coatings—Structuring binder for improved cost performance
  • Water based inks—Structuring binder for improved water retention
  • Animal pharmaceuticals—Carrier and pelletizing agent
  • Recycled paperboard—Moisture resistant adhesive binder
  • Wood adhesives—Urea formaldehyde replacement

Our History with ProSoy™

APS founded the protein division in 2011 when a senior manager from DuPont’s soy business unit joined the company. DuPont had been operating in both the food and industrial soy sectors. As the market for soy-based food applications expanded greatly, the industrial soy operation became a smaller and smaller part of the business.

Today, with a focus on tailored functionality and a positive environmental impact, our technical research and development team is comprised of several scientists and product engineering specialists who have created a wide portfolio of products. focused on a positive environmental impact for the applications they are used in. Many of the current staff were involved with the original DuPont industrial operation.

With each team member having an average of 30 years of technical research and development experience, we engineer innovative products for cross linking, viscosity modification, water holding or releasing, and binding. Our team has the flexibility, knowledge, and equipment to produce nearly any proprietary protein formulation, tailored to your specific application.

Our facility equals the original DuPont plant in size and capabilities. We are regularly exploring furthermore and more applications every day that ProSoy can be used with, as we continue to expand ProSoy’s industrial footprint , helpand to helping to reduce industry’s impact on the environment.
